Our mission with the Musings of a Book Collector podcast is to produce well-organized content about Seforim and other Judaic works for our subscribers and listeners.

We will begin with two types of episodes:

  1. Short episodes (10-12 minutes per episode, 3 episodes per month) which will be available for free here, here and on the All-Torah platform. Rabbi Dr. Brodt will muse about various Seforim and other literary works, both new and old.
As an example, the host may discuss 2-3 recently acquired Seforim, reviewing a few highlights and observations. In other instances, he will focus more closely on one Sefer. The objective of the short episodes is to engage and educate fellow Seforim/book lovers, and ensure they are up to date with the new releases.
Sponsorship is available for $180 per episode, and it is tax deductible.

  2. Full episodes (40-60 minutes per episode, 2-3 episodes per month), available here via paid membership (see Membership tab for pricing options). The topics of these episodes include:
    1. Episodes devoted to in-depth analysis of new Seforim. Occasionally, the host will focus on a specific volume of a larger literary work and draw on his bibliographical expertise to provide a unique perspective to the listener.
    2. Mini-series about the classic Halachic works – Mishna Berurah and Oruch HaShulchan. This series will deal with the history of the works, including the respective teachers, contemporaries, methods, libraries, and impact of the authors. These discussions will be based on Rabbi Dr. Brodt’s original research in the realm of Halacha, beginning in the 16th Century and onward.
    3. Mini-series about R’ Shlomo Zalman Auerbach and his Halachic work on electricity titled Meorei Eish. This series will zoom out to focus more broadly on the historical context of electricity as a Halachic challenge and zoom in to focus more specifically on R’ Shlomo Zalman, his teachers, contemporaries and methods of Psak. Rabbi Dr. Brodt will take a deep dive into the Meorei Eish and outline what made R’ Shlomo Zalman both an extremely unique and accepted Posek.
    4. Mini-series about the Encyclopedic work Sdei Chemed and the Encyclopedia Talmudit.
    5. Mini-series on other topics which are in various phases of production and will be released upon completion.
